Membership
Membership in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Andover is open to anyone who is in sympathy with our purposes, goals and programs. There are no tests of creed or character, and no rite or ceremony imposed as a condition of membership. If you think that we are the kind of spiritual community you want to be a part of and help shape, please feel free to talk with the minister or a member of the membership committee about participating in an orientation.
Several times a year, the Membership Committee hosts a two-session orientation for those who are interested in learning more about our congregation and Unitarian Universalism. Staff and leaders are available to answer questions and there is also time for informal discussion of what people are seeking from their religious experiences. The Committee also sponsors a welcoming ceremony during a Sunday service to recognize those persons who choose to join our congregation by signing the membership book.
The Membership Committee is also responsible for greeting and welcoming visitors to Sunday services, and keeping in touch with existing members and friends of the congregation. The Committee publishes a directory of members and friends, prepares a Newcomers Guide, provides nametags, maintains the literature rack and certifies the number of active members to the UUA annually.
